Beyond Mindfulness: Becoming a Work of Art

April 8, 2019 By Andrew Rogers

Upcoming Dharma talk in NW Calgary, July 2019

Dharma Talk in Calgary July 5 2019

Have you ever felt that the inner work you do is unappreciated? More often, our culture values and recognizes the beauties of the external world. In fact, the inner work is the art of making ourselves into works of art – unique masterpieces of bliss, wisdom, and radiant compassion.

Gain the inspiration and tools you need to let your raw talent shine, in this talk by master artists of the inner world.

Join Doug and Catherine Senseis to explore six aspects of consciousness that have been refined by the Buddhist practitioners for more than two thousand years. These six aspects are called the Paramis (perfections) in Sanskrit, and they are the blueprint to becoming your own inner and outer work of art.

Are the Paramis Relevant Today?

Every meditative practice in our tradition, at some point, leads back to these Paramis, also known as “The Six Perfections”. They offer a flawless path that carries us straight to spiritual enlightenment.

It’s a simple, beautiful, and powerful path that offers a refuge in these busy, information-heavy times.

Is this for you?

This class is for you if you’re looking for simple tools to transform challenging states and to train your mind to be brighter, lighter, and more joyful.

The Dharma Hub will be offering follow up sessions in the coming weeks and months, where you’ll also have the opportunity continue your understanding of the Paramis.

Befriending the Void

November 24, 2018 By Dharma Hub

What lies at the core of your being? What if you dared to look all the way inside?

Teachings on emptiness and the void are fundamental to the Buddhist understanding of reality. Like ‘Dzogchen’ and ‘Mahamudra’, some of the most profound practices are centred on the direct experience of the void. These practices are ultimately freeing on the deepest level but are often also terrifying to our limited selves. How can you begin to approach and understand the healing power of emptiness, even with challenges like distracted minds and anxious feelings?

Join Master teacher and best-selling author Doug Duncan Sensei for these weekend teachings where you will learn how to befriend the void, finding healing and connection on the deepest level possible.

Here’s what you can expect from the classes:

  • Discover or deepen your understanding about what Buddhists mean when they talk about Emptiness/ The Void and what this experience can do for you
  • Gain tools to deepen your comfort and skill at experiencing Emptiness and the benefits that come from this (greater calm, joy, compassion and ease)
  • Learn how this one skill can enhance every other skill in your life
  • Learn how to practice and leverage these ancient, powerful teachings, even in the midst of your busy, modern life

Schedule:

  • Saturday, November 24th- 10am-noon
  • Sunday, November 25th- 10am-noon

*Please arrive 15 minutes early as class will start promptly at 10am.

You, Me We: Conscious Community

July 15, 2017 By Dharma Hub

You, Me, We

Tools for collaborative teamwork, meaningful connection and achieving your personal vision.

Working and engaging consciously in organisations, teams and groups is among the most rewarding and growth filled experiences we can have. What would your life be like if each of us were able to fully support, inspire and collaborate with each other? What kind of world could we create together?

In today’s world, we push for independence and personal freedom, often at the cost of belonging, connection and the welfare of the greater whole. Without community we are isolated, lonely, disempowered and without support. Without personal vision and individuality we feel subsumed by the collective.

Join Dharma Teacher Doug Duncan Sensei for a weekend of teachings on how to create, connect and engage meaningfully in community.  Learn how to be an empowered individual that plays and works well with others, for the benefit of all.

Doug will share his personal experiences living and building conscious organisations in Canada and internationally.  Learn tools for how we can manifest our personal and collective potentials, for a more compassionate world that we truly want to live in.

Course Outcomes

  • Understand what consciously working together really means, where you have it in your life already and where it is missing.
  • Discover where, how and why you may be resisting or avoiding community in your own life.
  • Find out exactly what you can do to build and connect consciously with like minded people.
  • Learn practical tools for better communication and working collaboratively and constructively with others
  • Taste the potential of deep, meaningful connection.

Schedule:

  • Saturday July 15th – 10am-noon
  • Sunday July 16th – 10am-noon

*Please arrive 10 minutes early so we can start on time.
